Hello

I'm having trouble building R under Unix. I've searched for information about it on google or the R database but I didn't find any answer on my problem. I would be thankful if somebody could help me working that out.

The version of R I'm trying to build is R-2.4.0 and the architecture of solaris is sparc.

Here's what I type.

PATH=/opt/sfw/bin:$PATH

export PATH

That's for the C compiler

./configure LDFLAGS="-L/opt/sfw/lib:/opt/sfw/lib/sparcv9"

Then I get :

Source directory: .

  Installation directory: /usr/local

  C compiler:                gcc  -g -O2 -std=gnu99

  Fortran 77 compiler:       g77  -g -O2

  C++ compiler:              g++  -g -O2

  Fortran 90/95 compiler: g77 -g -O2

  Interfaces supported: X11

  External libraries: readline

  Additional capabilities: PNG, JPEG, NLS

  Options enabled: shared BLAS, R profiling

  Recommended packages: yes

configure: WARNING: you cannot build DVI versions of the R manuals

configure: WARNING: you cannot build PDF versions of the R manuals

gmake

and then I get this error message
