You don't need to modify any other batch files, you just need to create a new batch file named "R.bat" as a wrapper for R. I forget batch file syntax, so I'm sure this is wrong, but it would look something like this:

SAVEPATH=%PATH%
PATH=Rtools\bin;R\bin;...
R %1 %2 ...
PATH=%SAVEPATH%

I'd guess the "find" that R uses predates the one that Microsoft invented. Think of the R toolset as an attempt to correct the mistakes that Microsoft made, by making the environment more Unix-like.
