It is a bad idea to do that in any case. If you have such huge data or code, save the data / code to a file and read that one. If it is R code, use source() to do so.

So you hit the readline buffer limit.

There are buffer sizes and you probably hit one of them. So no need to try. You cannot expect Copy & Paste to work for an arbitrarily sized string.
