R community,

I am having trouble adding Greek symbols to a plot. I want to mix Roman
text and Greek -- but they keep fighting!

Pseudo code for what I want:

 [Greek] gamma [subscript]1 = [Roman] Threshold 1

I have conducted a search on the CRAN FAQ list, but no luck.

Any and all hints would be GREATLY appreciated.
