Hello.

I'm still a beginner at R, and I was having difficulties assigning
values to specific elements of an array from functions. For example,
if I were using the array x in the main function, I could not change
x[1,2] from a helper function. I used <<-, but that did not seem to
work. If you know what I am doing wrong, please help me.
