Binary packages of R are available for Red Hat Linux 6.x and 7.x.
Look on CRAN ( http://cran.r-project.org ) under "R binaries".
You can upgrade R with
rpm -Uvh R-base-1.4.0-1.i386.rpm
You should also download and install the R-recommended package.
If your current version of R was installed manually, you will also
have to remove it manually.
