Hello!
I had just the same "Assembler" Messages during the Installation of the
cluster-Package by Kurt Hornik. It seems to be a Bug in the g77 code resp.
somebody told me that there is a bug in some program in sbin which causes these
messages. I fixed the problem by using f2c instead of g77 -- that works fine!
So I would recommend users with SuSe to use f2c for installing R.
