You are not likely to find this in S-news: it is an faq (literally, hance
no caps) there, but the answers are different. One answer for S-PLUS -- use
psfrag and incorporate the figures in a LaTeX document -- is also probably
the highest-quality solution for R.

Indeed, it is one of the few things documented about R (the other
major one being the format of .Rd files). However, I would like to
point that the the V&R `R Complements' do have a concise description
of this culled from all those sources.
