Hi

S-Plus has the function : substring an *NOT* a function substr like R. This
must change to write portable code that will run with S-Plus and R.

I can do
>substring <- substr

but this could not the solution.

Also the names of the arguments are different.

substring:
S-Plus 3.3 >args(substring)
function(text, first, last = 1000000)
NULL

substr:
> args(substr)
function (x, start, stop)
NULL
>

Ciao
