Somewhere hidden in the doc, the  R authors  say that they did 
NOT implement  IEEE arithmetic, ie, 
there are no
		NaN   Inf  -Inf
just
		NA

(as in  'old-S').
I actually would quite like to see  those extras,
probably one reason it's missing is "platform  independence",
I wounder however on which platform IEEE arithmetic is NOT implemented...
