I agree with Todd.  In C for example 
if(!k)
is generally considered BETTER style than
if(k==0)
The first version is considered easier to understand and eliminates the 
following bug:
if(k=0)

Often S is like C, so I personally would prefer if R acted like C here.
But chacun a son gout and de gustibus non disputandum.
