When I run the test library for survival4 (on R12 and 13, SunOS 4.1), R
may crash with a segmentation fault. Increasing the vector heap size with
the -v postpones this problem and increasing it even more eliminates it.

This suggests to me that something goes horribly wrong with the garbage
collection at some point.

Incidentally, I haven't been able to change the size of the language heap
with the -n option. It always complains that the size is invalid. What
sizes are valid?
