I have been using R on AIX 3.2.5 and AIX 4.1.4 from
release release alpha.1 on. Currently I am using R.12.
All releases compiled out of the box after some obvious
changes in the Makefile. The dyn.load staff requires
an emulation library written by Jens Uwe Mager, but
otherwise works.

Unfortunately I am currently recovering from a hard-disk
failure on our file-server, so I don't have access to
my home directory. If I properly recall, an old version
of the emulation library (for AIX 3.2) comes under copyright
more restrictive that gnu (no commertial use), but the
current version (for AIX 3.2 and 4.1) comes under Berkely-style
copyright. In any case AIX 4.2 has dlopen and friends.

If my recovery procedes smoothly, I should be fully operational
next Monday and could try to make an AIX configuration file for
R.13.

Heiner

P.S.: IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE BACKUPS ON A REGULAR BASE
