I replied to Philippe but forgot to cc to the list.

As for Part 1: the real problem is that R only has 3 line types. Setting
lty to 4 is a bit of a problem; set lty="dashed" and he gets what he wants.

As for Part 4: Ross is just adding some changes to the library structure
so that this will become easy.....
