Subject: R-alpha: Venables & Smith notes

Before too many people put too much work into it; Ross and I are having
a bash at rewording it for R now that we have most of the required
functionality.

One place where we don't yet have enough functionality is in the modelling.
We're missing
add1, kappa, alias, labels, drop1 and proj

many of these are interpreted functions so anyone that is bored and wants
to have a go at implementing them it would be appreciated. I'm currently
trying to mark out the sections in these notes where there is work to
be done getting R compatible.

Also the section on categories/factors needs to change a bit. We don't
have categories and there is nothing there on ordered factors. It would
be nice to have an example using factors for modelling (or at least
refer to one in Section 10).

And so the list gets longer .....

regards
robert
