Further to Peter Dalgaard's reply, R works fine with the POSIX certified 
Linux-FT release 1.2. However don't buy that now as I'm told that a new 
release is imminent. The problem you have to watch for with Linux is whether 
the version of XFree86 (X11) shipped with it includes drivers for the graphics 
card on your PC. If you have a new PC with an up-to-the-minute graphics card 
you will need to check this out quite carefully.
