I'm having some problems using dyn.load() on my Linux system. I get
these errors trying to dynamically load an objectfile:

    > dyn.load("markov.sim.o")
    /local/R/bin/R.binary: '/home/fredrigl/R/markov.sim.o' is not an ELF executable for 386/486
    Error in dyn.load(paste(system("pwd", intern = T), x, sep = "/", collapse = "")) : Not an ELF shared library>

These errors indicate that the objectfile is not an ELF-file, but it
is indeed!

This is my system:

    $ uname -a
    Linux biopc43.uio.no 2.0.27 #7 Sun Jan 12 18:39:02 MET 1997 i586
    $ gcc --version
    2.7.2
