Sure, but we need a bit more to go on. It's been working fine on my
system, which is *also* RedHat 4.1.

More specifically we need at least

- R version (16.1 shouldn't use Fortran at all by default!?)

- exact error message + where did it go wrong?

- results of 'which f77' and 'which f2c' and the content of your PATH
variable
