Subject: R-alpha: Query about par use ...

I have been looking at implementing conditioning plots (coplots) in R
and I have found a pretty simple way of doing it. BUT it means making
a small change to the semantics of par(fig=...).

In S, such a specification gives location of the plot as proportions
of the device surface. I would like to change this to proportions of
the region inside the outer (oma) margins.

Would this upset anyone? You would be able to get S semantics with a
spec of the form par(oma=rep(0,4), fig=...).

I think it would also be more generally useful too.
