Abstract

This work has developed from Cassey's work on new models for describing the distribution of biomass between taxa in a particular environment. A variety of such models currently exist. However, there are serious shortcomings in current methods for evaluating competing models (Bersier & Sugihara, [J. of Animal Ecology 66 (1997):769- 774] ), especially when the number of taxa considered is large.

We present an alternative, resampling-based measure of the closeness of biomass models to data.
