Oops,
  Somehow I'm not connecting with my mailer properly today...

  What I wanted to point out was the lack of a warning there and the
  following:

> y<-sample(3)
> y
[1] 2 3 1
> v<-as.factor(y)
> is.numeric(v)
[1] TRUE

  Whereas in Splus:

> y<-sample(3)
> v<-as.factor(y)
> is.numeric(v)
[1] F

  Did I miss a discussion of this (I would prefer if is.numeric was
false for factors).
