Eventually some kind person with lots of extra time on his/her hand will install R v2.8.0 on their machine, try to reproduce the problem, troubleshoot it, fix the bug, and provide you with a customized retroactive patched R v2.8.0 that you could install. While waiting for that to happen, you may want to try out R v2.12.2.
