[R] CTRL-C behaviour with RODBC on Solaris2.8

After loading the RODBC package version 1.1-7, Ctrl-C changes its behaviour and is quitting R and returning to the (unix-)command prompt on the solaris2.8 platform here. Here's what happened before and after loading RODBC

> for (i in 1:10^5) rnorm(10)
> library(RODBC)
> for (i in 1:10^5) rnorm(10)

platform sparc-sun-solaris2.8
arch sparc
os solaris2.8
system sparc, solaris2.8
major 2
minor 3.1
year 2006

day 01
svn rev 38247
language R

version.string Version 2.3.1 (2006-06-01)

This version of R was built with gcc-3.3 (too old?) and ODBC_INCLUDE, ODBC_LIBS pointing to non-standard locations /quant/temp/jagat/usr/local/include, /quant/temp/jagat/usr/local/lib, respectively. Will be glad to provide further details.

Any ideas on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated.
