Hi

Rolf: SessionInfo() on my server gives me :-

R version 2.7.0 (2008-04-22)
x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu

locale:
LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8;LC_NUMERIC=C;LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8;LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8;LC_MONETARY=C;LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8;LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8;LC_NAME=C;LC_ADDRESS=C;LC_TELEPHONE=C;LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8;LC_IDENTIFICATION=C

attached base packages:
[1] stats graphics grDevices utils datasets methods base

On my Pc it gives me:-

R version 2.5.1 (2007-06-27)
i486-pc-linux-gnu

locale:
LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8;LC_NUMERIC=C;LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8;LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8;LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8;LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8;LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8;LC_NAME=C;LC_ADDRESS=C;LC_TELEPHONE=C;LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8;LC_IDENTIFICATION=C

attached base packages:
[1] "stats" "graphics" "grDevices" "utils" "datasets" "methods" [7] "base"

Ray:
The ulimit command gives me:-

core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
max nice                        (-e) 0
file size               (blocks, -f) unlimited
pending signals                 (-i) 257579
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 32
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files                      (-n) 1024
pipe size            (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
max rt priority                 (-r) 0
stack size              (kbytes, -s) 10240
cpu time               (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes              (-u) 257579
virtual memory          (kbytes, -v) 300000
file locks                      (-x) unlimited

Is that because of Virtual memory? Because the above figure gives only 300 000 KB while in my Pc it is Unlimited.

Please advise. Thanks.
