I don't know, but it looks from their web page as though you're asking the wrong question, i.e. you should be asking:

Has the SWIG dev. team considered supporting R?

What I couldn't find on the page is a discussion of how hard it is to add support for another language to SWIG. I don't know if this is something a SWIG user could do, or whether it requires a major effort.
