I guess that this is not easy but it's a godd idea, now that R is moving towards OOP, mapping with UML would be very interesting.

I'm not an expert on none of this subjects so I'm not of much help. I simply have tried to move on to S4 and a lot of work looks like "reenventing the wheel". Something like UML could help on this ...
