 The statemets ends with '0,)', maybe this is the reason...  BTW, all statements end with the similar symbols.  I have found, that R some times complain on this and sometimes not,  but did not search the reasons.

 My R 2.1.0 on win2000 doesn't complain on the statement  bryansAtLineLevel<-c( blah-blah-blah
 which I have copy-pasted from the mail message.

 Why don't you want to use 'rep' in generating sequences?  

 You also could store data in separate file(s) and use something like  read.table.

 At least, these could make your script more readable.
