what is the definition of your similarity?

For two variables, you can compare two mean values from two sample by t-test (t.test()) or rank test (such as wilcox.test()). You also can measure the similarity between two distribution by Euclidean or other distance (dist()) . The ks.test() and chisq.test() can be considered too. More than two, you must do some variance analysis.

I think the R basic package is enough.
