Dear Andy and Prof. Ripley,

Thank you very much for the suggestions. Tried the "ZipData" option, and it solved my problem. I think Andy's suggestion should also work, but haven't tried it yet.

Well, not zipped by default: it can be zipped.

You need to read the `Writing R Extensions' manual and set the appropriate option in the DESCRIPTION file. Search for 'ZipData'
