From: Jim Lindsey <jlindsey@luc.ac.be> Message-Id: <9606040738.AA30046@alpha.luc.ac.be> Subject: R-alpha: batch mode and interactions To: r-testers@stat.math.ethz.ch Date: Tue, 4 Jun 1996 09:38:02 +0200 (MET DST) (1) As a follow-up to my problem with interactions in W&R notation, try the following models and look at the design matrix created. The results are surprising. y <- rpois(9,2) # this can be anything x1 <- gl(3,1,9) x2 <- gl(3,3,9) int <- as.integer(w1)*as.integer(x2) Look at the last column of the design matrices for y~x1+x2+int and y~x1+x2+as.integer(x1):as.integer(x2) (2) In reply to Robert, I am afraid that I have a difficult time imagining situations where I would want to save the work space after a batch job. I have now run dozens, doing an "rm .RData" after each! I would be interested to know what others on the list think. (I am now accustomed to typing "n" each time after q().) Is there not some way of setting an option (or in a .first file) whereby the default is set either always to save or not to save the workspace -- both in interactive and batch mode??
