Subject: R-alpha: Need something like '.Device' or '.Devices'

I want to be able to find out if a graphic device is running and which one
it is.

In S (even plain S without "plus") I can use the variable .Devices to
find out about the current device, i.e., we don't currently need all the
	dev.FOOBAR functions of S-plus,
but either .Device or .Devices is a minimum, I think.

(.Devices: If it does not exist, there's no active device,
if it exists, it is a list with one entry per device
(in R: there is only one device ..),
(and then S-plus and S4 start differing ..).
.Device : a character (vector of length 1) with the name of the current device.

BTW:	On several help-"pages" (e.g. x11) there's a 'SEE ALSO' to
"device" but there's no 'device' nor a help page with that name.
