I don't know that there is much to gain by making the libraries shared
unless you are using them for some purpose other than building R.
Shared libraries can save memory and disk when used in multiple
applications, but with a single application, the whole program text is
generally shared between multiple invocations anyway.  We just use
libraries as a development convenience.

Any contributions on the documentation front would be mucho welcome.
I am confining my efforts to changes which will help a latex version
of the "R Language Reference Manual".
