Subject: R-alpha: misc 0.16

Installation and help  installation went fine on Linux-elf. Following are
three errors(?)  in the new features of 0.16 and  two older problems not yet
The search path does not seem to indicate when libraries are added:

> library("test")
> search()
[1] ".GlobalEnv" ".SystemEnv"

and the following may be related:
> detach("test")
Error: invalid name

I'm not sure if the following is suppose to be supported, but it is not.

> attach("/apps/R/library/test")
Error: attach only works for lists and data frames

In S I believe the only differences between attach() and library() are the
position in the search path (first for attach and last for library) and that
.First.lib is executed by library(), so I would guess it should not be too 
difficult to make this work.

.First.lib is not yet supported. It would be useful for loading compiled
code and data sets.

Error: attempt to set invalid value for graphics parameter "lwd".

This makes reseting parameters on.exit difficult.


In summary.default please change the lines

			sumry[i, 2] <- if (is.object(ii)) 

			sumry[i, 2] <- if (is.object(ii)) 
				paste(class(ii), collapse=" ")

so that summary.default works with lists of lists.


I'm not sure if the following is suppose to be supported, but it is not.

> z <- list(a=1,b=2)
z <- list(a=1,b=2)
> z["c"] <- 3
z["c"] <- 3
Error: subscript out of bounds
