I would like to know if and when an up-to-date version that works under Windows 95 of R is available.
In fact I have noticed that the R Alpha-Test version (for win3.1 Copyright (C) 1995 Robert Gentleman and Ross Ihaka) available by ftp is a very old version with few libraries of statistical functions, while the UNIX version has been continually up-to-dated.
I would like to know also if the development of a good version of R working under windows 95 is wished by the programmers.
In my opinion, it would be more interesting to develop R for PC (W95) rather than for UNIX, because for this last one S-PLUS already exists, and all the institutions working under UNIX, use it. On the contrary, R could be used at home too.
