I installed R-2.7.0 from the tar.gz file. It's the end of make check that my question is about.

make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/R-2.7.0/tests' make: *** [check] Error 2 When I look at testIO.R, it seems indeed to be designed to have a missing CR at the end. Is this simply testing to see if it is found, or does the fact that it exits with Error 2 mean that it's not going onto other tests? It did seem to be rather a lot shorter than I remember other installations. I did not have any difficulty in installing the lme4 package and its dependencies which might indicate that the installation has been successful. Do I have any cause for concern? -- ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~. ___ Patrick Connolly {~._.~} Great minds discuss ideas _( Y )_ Middle minds discuss events (:_~*~_:) Small minds discuss people (_)-(_) .....
